Who we are?

THE EPISCOPAL DIOCESE OF UTAH embodies a variety of faith communities and diverse congregations – whether in downtown Salt Lake City, rural areas away from the Wasatch Front, the southern Red Rock Country, or on the reservations in the high desert of Eastern Utah. Our outreach ministries extend to Native American, Latino, and Sudanese refugee populations. We support a homeless shelter and provide resources for underprivileged youth, 12-step programs, and food banks.

Who We AreOur congregations worship in a variety of liturgical styles, including Rite I, Rite II, elements from the Lutheran Book of Worship, and Enriching Our Worship. We conduct services in English, Spanish, and Dinka (a language of Sudan). Native American traditions, creation liturgies, Taizé, and others are warmly embraced. We have simple services with short homilies as well as solemn high Masses; lay preachers, deacons, and a variety of lay ministries; and traditional, classical, and praise music.

Members of our diocese study, learn, question: We enjoy intellectual stimulation, but also live in the mystery of the Word. Education is important to us. In fact, we had schools before we had church buildings.
